DENMARK — Branch committed eight errors and Denmark pounded out 17 hits as the Devilbears collected a 12-7 win over the Blaze in Shoreland League action on Wednesday.

Denmark broke open a one-run game with a six-run third inning and never trailed.

Branch (8-12 overall, 6-7 in the Shoreland League) scored four runs in the sixth on a two-run single by Chris Wettstein and a RBI-fielder's choice from Paul Smith that got the Blaze as close as 9-7.

But Branch would muster only one hit the rest of the game and Denmark sealed the win with three runs in the eighth inning.

Wettstein, Mike Brey and Justin Otto each finished with two hits for Branch, which will travel to face the Manitowoc Heat on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Citizen Park.

Tony Knapton was 4-for-5 for Denmark, while Ben Jaeger and Lawton Pieschek each chipped in three hits in the win.
